After spending many years working in creative studios and alongside photographers in the marketing and advertising industry, I eventually took the plunge and started making my own work.
When I'm not behind the camera, I spend my time writing for the theatre. I staged my first production in January 2025. Since then, I've been lucky enough to have two more plays staged in Manchester, with plenty more to come.
Leaving full-time employment to work for myself has been one of the best and most challenging decisions I've ever made. It's taught me just how much courage it takes to put yourself and your work out into the world. Whether you're an actor, an artist or another creative practitioner, presenting yourself is part of the job, and it isn't always easy.
As I've built my own career, I've found myself increasingly interested in documenting other people's. I know how important it is to have portraits that genuinely feel like you, whether that's an actor looking for honest, characterful headshots, or an artist photographed in the place where they make their work.
More than anything, I enjoy collaborating with people who care deeply about what they do. If I can help someone feel more confident about putting their work out into the world, I think that's a pretty good way to spend my time.
